Elwood E. Smoyer, 84, of Runville died January 17, 2016 at his residence.
Born September 8, 1931 in Bellefonte he was the son of the late Fount Gilbert and Pearl Edith (King) Smoyer.
On August 1, 1952 he married Anna Mae Colbert who survives at home, they would have celebrated their 64th anniversary in August.
Elwood was a Korean War Veteran serving in the army from1952-1954.
He was an assemblyman for Chemcut Corp in State College from 1965 until his retirement on October 28, 1993. He also worked for Meadowpride Dairy for eight years and Asplundh Tree Expert Service for five years. He was lifetime member of the Logan Fire Co.
He was an avid wood workman and could fix anything, well liked and always made you laugh. He loved yard sales, flea markets and antiques.
In addition to his wife Anna Mae he is survived by one daughter, Kathy Elaine Reeder of Runville; two granddaughters Kelly Pasquini (Fred) of Flinton and Amanda Roush (Dan) of Bellefonte; four great grandchildren Justin Reeder, Tommy Bumbarger, Chloe Roush, Freddy Pasquini IV; two brothers Stearling L. of Runville and David G. of Julian, PA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister May E. Smoyer; and two brothers, Arthur J. and William S. Smoyer.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with full military in accord. Burial in Centre County Memorial Park will private.
