Obituary

Emma L. Eckenroth, 86, of Bellefonte died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Centre Crest.

Born February 10, 1932 in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Rose (Emel) Martin.

On February 26, 1949 she married Gerald A. Eckenroth, who preceded her in death on July 17, 2010.

Emma was a caring and giving person, her home was always open to anyone. The most important things in her life were home and family. She loved to play bingo and taking care of and feeding the neighborhood cats. She enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the birds, squirrels and admired her flowers.  She professed that her church was Jimmy Swaggart on TV.

She was employed at the Hospital and Centre Crest, where she worked in the kitchen.

Surviving are one son, Gary L. Eckenroth; two daughters, Linda L. Hassinger and Debra J. (Kevin R.) Shook; six grandchildren, Dennis Hassinger, Leslie Shivley, Christine Weston, John Eckenroth, Corey (Julie) Eckenroth and Brian (Nychol) Shook; thirteen  great grandchildren, Nina and Alysa Shively, Nathan Penetta, Toby and Kale Shook, Melinda and Walter Burns ,Evan and Riley Eckenroth, Elijah, Ezra and Elliot Eckenroth and Taylor. She is also survived numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, June Witherite, Kenneth Martin, Betty Murray and Peggy Riter.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College.  A memorial service will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family
