Ernest R. Kauffman's Obituary
Ernest R. Kauffman Jr., 77, of Spring Mills, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at his home.
Born March 27, 1936, in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Ernest R. Sr., and Mildred Jean (Zimmerman) Kauffman.
On July 7, 1989, he married Ruth McClenahan in Roanoke, Virginia, who survives at home.
Ernie had several jobs in his lifetime. He worked for New Holland in Belleville and was a distributor for Hearthstone Homes in Tennessee. He presently is part owner of Mark Advertising in Lewistown.
He enjoyed going hunting and camping at Camp Bittersweet, going to the river, walking in the woods with his dog Mitsy, watching the grandchildren play sports, and singing in the church choir. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, in Centre Hall.
Ernie is survived by his wife Ruth and two sons; Alan (Nancy) Kauffman of Belleville, and William (Laura Lee) Kauffmann of Carlisle; four step- children: Karen (Chad) Thom of Spring Mills, Wendy (Billy) Splain of Centre Hall, Matthew (Sherry) Sharer of Centre Hall, and Jodie (Troy) Butler of Bellefonte; one brother, Kenneth (Gwen) Kauffman; two sisters Beverly Peachey and Roberta (Roy) Benn, all of Belleville;12 grandchildren, Nathaniel (Kristin) Kauffman of Belleville, Matthew (Maddie) Kauffman, of Burnham, Jacob Kauffman of Harrisburg, Erin (Bryan) Joseph of N. Canton, OH, Hannah Kauffman of Carlisle, Rachel Hill of Centre Hall, Madisyn and Lucas Sharer of Centre Hall, Abigail and Emily Thom of Spring Mills, and Ty Butler of Bellefonte; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with the Reverend Judith Hulslander officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 292 Centre Hall, PA 16828, or to The Penns Valley HOPE Fund, P.O. Box 427, Centre Hall, PA 16828
