Eugene A. Long, 94, of Centre Hall, died on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, State College.
Born August 3, 1917, in Potter Township he was a son of the late Carl H. Sr. and Jodie (Duck) Long.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Kathryn E. (Zerby) Long on October 10, 2006 and Carol Jean (Breon) Long on September 23, 2010.
Eugene was a farmer in State College in his early years, and was a carpenter and woodworker all his life. He worked for his father and eventually was the owner of Eugene Long Construction.
He was a member of the Pine Grove Mills Lions Club, the Nittany Antique Machinery Association, and the state and local Snowmobile Association.
Eugene is survived by three sons, Marvin Long of State College, Nevin Long (Kathryn) of Centre Hall and Marlin Long of Pueblo, CO; two daughters, Betty Mae Long Gibson of Scotia and Kathy Geinsmore (Nevin) of Houserville; two sisters, Shirley Stover (Dellas) of Pleasant Gap, and Joyce Rachau (Robert) of Spring Mills; fifteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by siblings, Maxine Smith, Arelene Wurfl, Randolph and Carl Long, Jr.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held from the funeral home on Friday, October 28, 2011, beginning at 10 AM with the Rev. Wayne Miller officiating. Interment will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Eugene's memory to the Ferguson Township Lions Club, State Route 45 W., Pine Grove Mills, PA 16868.
