IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Edith
Johnstonbaugh
December 26, 1930 – March 13, 2025
Frances Edith Johnstonbaugh, 94, of Pleasant Gap, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born on December 26, 1930 in Bellefonte, PA to the late Lloyd T. and Hazel Ellen (Zonge) Shawley. Frances married Wilbur J. Bloom, Jr. in 1949; they remained married until his passing in 1963. She later married Glenn H. Johnstonbaugh in 1972; they remained married until his passing in 2022.
Frances worked at Fleisher's Market in Pleasant Gap and later designed sweat shirts for her own company, Fran's Decorated Shirts. She and Glenn made many friends as they traveled for over twenty years to various arts festivals where she affectionately became known as "the sweat shirt lady".
Along with her parents and her first and second husbands she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Young; one brother, Lloyd T. Shawley, Jr.; one stepson, Ronald Johnstonbaugh; one grandson, Joshua Lawrence; and one daughter-in-law, Stearlyn Bloom. She is survived by her children, Michael A. Bloom of Bennettsville, SC, Cathy A. Guzik (William) of Centre Hall, PA and Cindy Lawrence (Tom) of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Melissa Hoover (Mike) of Tyrone, PA, Matthew Monsell (Amber) of Bellefonte, PA, Matthew Lawrence of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Lawrence of Atlanta, GA, Aaron Guzik (Marissa) of Colorado and Lauren Disciascio (Jimmy) of Florida, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
"Grammy J" will be greatly missed by her "little ones" with whom she loved to spend time playing checkers and bingo or just having a humorous conversation. She was never shy about asking for or giving a hug and her sense of humor prevailed even in her last days. No one laughed more at her jokes than she did. She made many friends at the Oaks and was affectionately known as "fancy pants" because of her extensive collection of her custom shirts.
We will forever miss our strong, loving, kind, caring, generous, funny, and selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.
Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Family and friends will be received from 10:00am – 10:45am with a funeral service immediately following at 10:45am. Interment will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.
