Frank C. Greenleaf, age 92, of State College, died October 4, 2022. He was born April 6, 1930 in Huntingdon, a son of the late Frank H. and Josephine (Kyper) Greenleaf. On May 9, 1981, he married Nancy Hesser Greenleaf who survives at home.
Frank served with the Marine Air Detachment during the Korean War earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. After serving many years with the US Postal Service he retired as a Postal Clerk from the State College Post Office.
Frank was a member of the State College Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1600 at Boalsburg. An avid tennis player, he also enjoyed bowling, playing golf and watching sports on television and was an avid Penn State football fan.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters, Betsy L. Messner and her husband Robert of Ephrata and Debra Beard of Altoona; 1 step-daughter, Betsy Whitco and her husband David of North Apollo; 3 step-sons, Mark Gates and his wife Claudia of Washington, DC, John Gates and his wife Regina and David Gates and his wife Sherrie all of Ellicott City, MD; 2 grandchildren, Lisa Ohlinger and Kelly Miller; 3 great-grandchildren, Collin Miller, Luaren Miller and Jadon Ohlinger and 9 step-grandchildren. Two sisters, Virginia Greenleaf and Betty Greenleaf Davis and 4 brothers, Robert, William, John and Richard Greenleaf preceded him in death.
Friends will be received from 11:00AM - 12:00PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00PM at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike State College, PA 16801, the Reverend Robert Ford officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary's and St. John's Catholic Cemetery 10th Street Altoona, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences left for the family at www.hakygeorgianafh.com
