Franklin (Junie) Flory, Jr., 85 of State College, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born October 11, 1926, at State College, a son of the late Franklin Joseph Flory Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Flory.
On December 25, 1945, in Hurffville, NJ, he married Eleanor L. Cramer who survives at home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Roy William Flory of State College; three daughters, Linda Flory Bathurst of State College, Donna Zimmerman of Warriors Mark and Carol Chamberlin (Ed) of Centre Hall; five grandchildren, George Terrance Bathurst, Jr., John Bruno, Jr., Leiann Chamberlin, Paulette Keith and Heather Keith; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Mr. Flory served with the Army Air force during World War II earning an American Theatre Ribbon and an Asiatic - Pacific Theatre Ribbon, a World War II Victory Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal; prior to his honorable discharge on December 17, 1946.
Franklin retired as a warehouse manager for W. R. Hickey in 1987 after twenty five years of service. Junie especially enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt and Ernie Irvan. Observing nature; but most importantly spending time with family were other things he cherished.
Following his wishes, all services will be private at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Russell Sauerwein officating, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. Burial with military honors will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
