Fredrick O. (Fred) Benner, 82, of Aaronsburg died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home.
Born April 1, 1933, in Fillmore, PA he was the son of the late Blaine and Phoebe (Stine) Benner. On September 8, 1956, he married the love of his life Helen (Muldoon) Benner who survives at home. They were married for 59 wonderful years.
He was a 1951 graduate from Howard High School; he then served our country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1959 during the Korean Conflict.
Fred was a hardworking man his entire life. He owned and operated his family farm for thirty five years and loved every minute of it. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of several clubs and organizations. They include: Centre Hall American Legion Post 779, Old Abe JI Case Tractor Club, Nittany Antique Machine Club, and was the Vice President of the Haines Township Zoning Board.
Along with his loving wife Helen, he is survived by seven children, Randy (Kelly) of Centre Hall, Vince (Terry) of Aaronsburg, Rhonda Benner of Ebensburg, Tracy Ridenour of Aaronsburg, Kevin (LaDawn) of Spring Mills, Roger (Heather) of Bellefonte and Robin Foltz (Tony) of Coburn; four sisters, Martha, Sarah (Charles), Carole, Lannie (Vic); two brothers, G. Keith (Donna), Larry (Judy); seventeen grandchildren, Kylie (Nathan), Philip (Alicia), Jamie (Craig), Samantha (Mike), Pierce, Travis (Chuck), Tabitha (Justin), Trevor (Kara), Kendall (Lynn), Jeromy, Amanda (John), Hannah, Stephanie (Len), Bethanie (Thomas), Evan (Karli), Caitlinn (Rich); eighteen great-grandchildren, Hayden, Gracie, Reagan, Logan, Kensly, Avery, Michael, Violet, Henry, Lena, Nisaya, Micah, Blake, Brynley, Rachel, Colton, Nathan, Grayson; and his "adopted" family, Stan, Karen Erik and Chad (Manchi) Schulyer.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death two brothers George, and James Benner, and Brother-in-law Ralph.
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Home, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Centre Hall. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015, at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 217 W. Aaron Square, Aaronsburg, with the Reverend Dawn Marie Meier officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Fairview West Cemetery, Millheim, with full Military in accord.
