Genevieve "Aunt Nene" Alexander, 95, of State College, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 1, 2012. She was able to remain at home with her family and friends by her side.
Born on July 21, 1917 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Stanley and Maude Harman.
Genevieve graduated from State College High School and the Thompson Business College in Harrisburg, PA. She worked at the PSU Dairy Department as a secretary for 8 years after college.
On February 16, 1946, she married Joe H. Alexander.
She was employed by the Government at the Veteran's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska as a medical secretary for 41 years until her retirement. After retirement she studied at Rhema Bible College and was actively involved with her local church family.
Genevieve was a loving wife and a caring friend. She enjoyed photography, playing her piano , crocheting ,knitting, reading and travel. She had a great love for animals, helping the SPCA, and she especially loved her American Eskimo dogs.
Genevieve was proceeded in death by her husband, Joe H. Alexander, her sister, Betty H. Delafield, brother-in-law Robert E. Delafield and her brothers, Blair and Kenneth.
She is survived by her nephews, Robert K. Delafield and wife (Tottie), and Gary A. Delafield and wife(Dotty), and a neice Cheryl Dawson and husband (Charlie), as well as many grand nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Her final year and a half was full of special love and care and we would like to thank the Home Nursing Agency, hospice, for helping to make that possible. The entire staff were so loving and tender to Genevieve. They helped to brighten each day and make life a great joy. Genevieve was truly a blessing and a lot of fun to know.
There will be no public services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College.
