George P. Bressler's Obituary
George P. Bressler, 93, of Centre Hall, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.
He was born December 15, 1920 in Fleming, PA a son of the late Andrew and Mabel Hogencamp Bressler.
On January 1, 1944, he married Phyllis M. Fielder who survives at Centre Hall.
He graduated from Walker Township High School in 1939 and attended several training schools for the Chrysler Corporation. George served with the U. S. Army in the Signal Corps during World War II.
Later he worked as a mechanic, having worked at the former Dunlap Motors in Bellefonte, Clemson Motor Company in State College and later worked at Cerro Metals and Brass in Bellefonte.
His memberships included St. Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall, where he was a past council president, and a member of V. F. W. Post 1600 in Bellefonte. Mr. Bressler helped to organize the Scouting Program in Centre Hall, and served as the first Cub Scout Master there.
One of his favorite pastimes was doing mechanical work.
Surviving are his wife Phyllis, two sons, Rodney Lee Bressler and his wife Marjorie of rural Centre Hall and Jeffrey Lynn Bressler and his wife Tina of Centre Hall; two sisters, Betty Hoy and her husband Frank of Niagara Falls, NY and Phyllis Karr and her husband James of Centre Hall; one brother William Bressler and his wife Nancy of Bellefonte; three grandchildren Darin Bressler and his wife Kara, Bradley and his wife Amy, and Ryan and his wife Allison, and six great grandchildren, Madison, Jared, Abigail, Gannon, Brennen, and Jensen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Dora Hann and three brothers, Walter, Paul and Kenneth Bressler.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a. m. Saturday, February 22, 2014; at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St. Centre Hall. The funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 a. m.at the church with the Reverend Scott Klimke officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 331 Centre Hall, PA 16828
