George H. Miller, 83, of Centre Hall, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
He was born June 10, 1922 in Fricks Locks, PA a son of the late George Jacob and Dorothy May Bible Miller.
He was married to Ann E. Roberts Miller who preceded him in death November 21, 2000.
During World War II, George served in the U. S. Army with Company M Light Infantry as a cook for 168 men, from Nov. 9, 1942 to Oct. 28, 1945, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Technician 4th Grade. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe earning a good conduct medal.
Early in life George worked for Diamond Glass and Pep Boys. After moving to Centre County, he worked for Centre Hall Mills for 8 years then for Hosterman Oil as a delivery driver for 19 years. After his retirement he worked with Packer Concessions of Centre Hall and on the Carl Smith Farm for several years.
Mr. Miller was a skilled craftsman and especially enjoyed making wooden toys with working mechanical parts and hunting.
He was the last of his siblings and is survived by nieces and nephews and close friends including the Packer and Smith families
Friends will be received from 10:00 until 11:00 a. m. on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. at the funeral home with the Rev. S. Leigh Pick officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
