George W. Homan, 87, of Centre Hall, died Friday, January 12, 2007, at Wynnwood House in Centre Hall.
He was born March 28, 1919, a son of the late Ralph G. and Ethel Long Homan. On April 2, 1940 he married Ruth A. Burris who preceded him in death on March 17, 1994.
Mr. Homan is survived by three daughters, Linda V. Wolfe and her husband Daniel of Williamsport, Connie L. Perry and her husband Robert of Bellefonte, Kathy R. Crissinger and her husband Terry of Coburn; eleven sons, David G. Homan and his wife Mary, Nevin G. Homan and his wife Norma Jean, Ronald K. Homan and his wife Patty, Harold G. Homan and his wife Ginny, Roy C. Homan and his wife Gay, Jerry E. Homan and his wife Judy, Carl V. Homan and his wife Diane, Larry D. Homan and his wife Donna, and Kevin L. Homan all of Centre Hall, Barry G. Homan of State College, and Bruce A. Homan and his wife Brenda of Madisonburg; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah L. Decker and Lois V. Brooks both of Centre Hall; and one brother Evan A. Homan of Rebersburg. He is also survived by his companion Barbara Barnaby.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Homan.
George was a 1937 graduate of Centre Hall - Potter High School.
He farmed all of his life and after retirement continued to work on the farm as much as he could.
Mr. Homan was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Centre Hall, Progress Grange in Centre Hall, the Centre Hall Farmers and Businessmen's Association, the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, and the Centre Hall Fire Company.
He enjoyed playing games and cards, hunting and fishing, especially his fishing trips to Canada.
Friends will be received from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Barry Folmar officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
