George P. Clarke Sr., "Phil", 72, of Lewistown, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Lewistown Hospital.
Phil was born on January 28, 1943 in Alexandria, VA. He was married in Bradenton Fl. on March 8, 1968 to Darlene Dee Clarke. His wife preceded him to Heaven on May 5, 2010
.
Phil is survived by his daughter, Michele and her husband, David House of Canandaigua NY., his Son George and his wife Rachel of Lewistown, PA. and six grandchildren.
Phil served in the US Army during Vietnam and was a postal worker for most of his working days in Bradenton Fl., and Canandaigua NY.
Phil was a member of The Old-Fashioned Baptist Church in Lewistown where he led the singing, worked with VBS and substituted on the Van routes from time to time. He also was a volunteer for Release Time, a children's ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship.
He loved his family very much and took great pride in his pug Gracie.
Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at The Old-Fashioned Baptist Church, 12260 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, PA. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church, with his son, Pastor George P. Clarke, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow at the Juniata Memorial Park with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to The Old-Fashioned Baptist Church and/or CEF of Mifflin County.
