George W. Ritchey, 69, of Port Matilda, died September 14, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born August 30, 1944, in Marion Township, he was a son of the late George Andrew and Ruth Isabelle (Packer) Ritchey.

On March 21, 1970, in State College he married E. Norene Pennebaker, who survives at home.

He was a member of the State College Assembly of God Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and a former usher. George loved his Lord and his church.

George was a Vietnam Army veteran. His pride and joy of life was his wiffy and his grandsons. He made it a priority to always attend all of his grandson's sporting events and was proud of them no matter what they did.

George was a graduate of State College High School, he retired from the Centre Daily Times as a pressman in 2001 and enjoyed camping, woodworking and John Deere Tractors.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Terrence; a daughter-in-law Melanie Ritchey; one brother, Bruce Ritchey (Nancy); three grandsons, Wesley, Eli and Caleb Ritchey and a niece Kathy Fraley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dale Ritchey and a sister Blanche Ritchey.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2013, and 10-11 AM, Friday, September 20th at the State College Assembly of God Church, 2201 University Drive Extension, State College; a funeral service will follow Friday at 11 AM at the church with the Reverend Steve Silliman officiating.

Interment in St. Mark's Cemetery, Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044, everyone please meet at cemetery at 3 PM. Friday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in George's name can be made to the State College Assembly of God Church, 2201 University Drive Extension, State College, PA 16801.
