Geraldine E. Brooks, 89, passed away following a long and feisty battle with Acute Leukemia. She had been a resident of Centre Hall for the past thirty two years, and a former resident of Pleasant Gap for thirty eight years.
Geraldine was born May 7, 1919, in Armagh Township, Mifflin County, a daughter of the late Edward and Jennie Freed Baumgardner.
On October 5, 1935, she married Harold C. Brooks who preceded her in death in 1981.
Mrs. Brooks worked as a postal clerk for the U. S. Postal Service for nineteen years and as a cashier at Hanover Grocery Outlet at Centre Hall for twenty years.
She was a member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Pleasant Gap Woman's Club. She enjoyed knitting and bird watching.
She is survived by one daughter Norma McMullen and her husband John of Centre Hall; three grandchildren, Suzanne Sancilio and her husband Michael of Roseville, MN, John McMullen and his wife Crystal of Lexington, KY, and Steven McMullen and his wife Kathleen of Harrisburg, PA; three great grandchildren Philip and Amelia Sancilio and Joe McMullen; and one sister, Naomi Gustwick of Strattanville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
There will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA 16828, with the Reverend Carl Hill officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College.
