Geraldine M. Rose, 79, of Bellefonte, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at her residence.
She was born November 18, 1928, in Lake Como, Mississippi; a daughter of the late Harry D. and Mary Elsie Blackwell Meyers.
She was married to Joseph J. Rose who preceded her in death May 26, 1987.
Mrs. Rose is survived by a son, Joseph Donald Rose and his wife Elaine of Allenstown, NH; three step-daughters, Nancy M. Strouse of Zion, Mary Mueller of Centre Hall, and Connie Bjalme of Bellefonte; six grandchildren; and one brother, Jim H. Meyers of Laurel, Mississippi.
Geraldine was raised a Southern Baptist. She attended school in Laurel, Mississippi, and after moving to Centre County, she attended the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology.
She retired in June, 1996, after twenty nine years of service at the Penn State University, having worked twenty two of those years as a food lab attendant in the Nutrition Department.
She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Bellefonte.
Sewing, all types of needle work, and crafts were among her favorite pastimes. She was a life member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary in Bellefonte and a member of the Air Force Sergeant's International Auxiliary.
Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday at the funeral home. with the Reverend Frank Skies officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
