Gloria Brooks Sharer Taylor Haines, 88, of Philipsburg, formerly of Centre Hall, went home to be with her Lord, Monday October 3, 2016, at Hearthside Nursing Center in State College.

She was born February 23, 1928 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late R. Stanley and Gladys Amanda Packer Brooks.

Gloria was a1946 graduate of Centre Hall-Potter High School where she played on the girls basketball team, played the Xylophone in the school band, and served as class president.

For many years she worked at Luse's IGA in Centre Hall.

Mrs. Haines was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God in Philipsburg, and was a former member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall, where she had sung in the church choir. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Progress Grange.

In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, especially making afghans, enjoyed playing the piano and organ and canning.

Surviving her are three daughters, Marjorie Bressler (Rodney), Beverly Guyer (Charles) and Joyce Barner (Rodney, all of Centre Hall; three sons, Glenn Sharer (Randen) of Boalsburg, Boyd Sharer (Susan) of Philipsburg, and Timothy Taylor (Joyce) of Sumter SC; one sister, Gladys Ann Corl (Earl) of Rebersburg; sixteen grandchildren, and thirty five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Sharer, Franklin Sharer, Walter Taylor, and Oliver Haines; and two sisters, Miriam Marshall and Nancy Yearick.

Friends will be received from 11 - 1 pm Friday, October 7, 2016 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA The funeral will follow immediately at 1 pm with the Pastor Joe Muir officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, West Church St. Centre Hall.
