H. Ray Styers, 87, of Centre Hall, died on Saturday, December 3,2005 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
He was born on June 9,1918 in Penn Twp. to the late Ernest and Jessee Gilmore Styers.
On November 12,1937 he married Lydia M. Grassmeyer who survives at home.
He was a retired minister of the Christian Faith. He also retired from Ertel's kitchens in Boalsburg as a cabinet maker.
He was member of the Summit Hill Wesleyan Church.
He enjoyed woodworking in his workshop and hunting.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Gerald Styers of Reedsville and William Styers of State College; three daughters, Darlene Packer and Sharon Showers both of Centre Hall, and Delores Kerlin of York; one brother, Robert Styers of Coburn; four sisters, Betty Zerby of Centre Hall, Dolly Hosterman and Ruth Weaver both of Arronsburg, and Phyllis Young of Maddisonburg; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A public viewing will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, December 5,2005 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA 16828. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6,2005 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA 16828 with the Rev. Charles Williamson officiating. Burial will be at the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society Centre Unit, 123 S. Sparks St.,State College, PA 16801-3915.
