Hamilton Taylor "Ham" Woodruff's Obituary
Hamilton (Ham) T. Woodruff, 23, of State College died on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Altoona Regional Trauma Center as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Freedom Township, Blair County.
He was born on October 23, 1985 in Williamsport, PA; a son of Reverend Howard T. and Dawn E. (Jones) Woodruff of State College.
Hamilton was a 2004 graduate of Mansfield High School, where he was class president and captain of the high school soccer team. He was currently serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, working as an Arabic Linguist and had just been appointed to the U. S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command.
He was a member of the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church in State College. Hamilton enjoyed reading and playing soccer, having played since age 5 and participating in high school soccer and playing for the Marine Corps soccer team.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Hilary T. Woodruff of State College and Nashville, TN; his girlfriend, Andrea Clouser of State College; paternal grandmother, Shirley Woodruff of Williamsport; maternal grandparents, Don and Carol Jones of Danville; and maternal great-grandmother, Betty Hack of Danville.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas H. Woodruff, Sr.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College and from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the church. Funeral Services will follow immediately at 11 AM at the church with the Reverend Gary D. Weaver and the Reverend Ron Doverspike officiating. Military honors will be accorded by members of the U.S. Marine Corps. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church Worship Ministries, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College, PA 16801.
It was always Hamilton's desire that in the event of his death, his organs were to be donated. His wish was granted. Now others will be able to live well because of the gifts he gave.
