Obituary

Harry W. DeArmitt, 92, of State College, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
Born in McAlevy's Fort, Huntingdon Co. on September 18, 1918, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Sara Ruth (Guyer) DeArmitt.
He was married for over 70 years to Georgetta Burd, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2010.
Harry attended the former Stone Valley High School.
Harry was employed as a truck driver for O.W. Houtz in State College, retiring in 1983.
Mr. DeArmitt found joy in fixing washers, dryers, and lawn mowers for many people in Central Pennsylvania. He was an amazing man who will be sorely missed by his loving family.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Darlene Miles of Huntingdon, and Donna Carol Bryan and her husband John of Millheim; five grandchildren: Angela Lucas, Billy Jo Williams, John Bryan, Jr., Wes P. Miles, Sr. and Cindy L. Frew; fourteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; four sisters, Ida Mary Gates, Sara E. Henninger, Threasa Henninger, and Blanche DeArmitt; four brothers, Ellis E., Walter E., Joseph F., and Cyrus W. DeArmitt; and his loving neighbors, Steve and Linda Peters.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. DeArmitt was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Ernest Miles; a granddaughter, Laurie A. Bryan; a sister, Grace Bragonier; and three brothers, Lester, Stanley, and Owen DeArmitt.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Funeral Services will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, June 4, 2011 beginning at 11 AM, with the Reverend Donald Dick officiating. Interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
