Obituary

Harry G. Witter, 83, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.
He was born April 18, 1922 in DuBois, PA, a son of the late Harry George and Anna Persing Witter.
Harry graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1940.
Mr. Witter served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict, entering active duty on January 8, 1941, transferring to the Naval Reserve on June 6, 1953, then continuing to serve through January 31, 1961, retiring as an Electrician Mate Chief.
From 1963 through his retirement on April 1, 1984, he was employed at Cerro Metals in Bellefonte as an electrician.
He was an avid fisherman.
Harry was a member of the V. F. W. Post 1600, American Legion Post 33, and the Undine Fire Company all of Bellefonte.
He is survived by a daughter Wendy Lynne Gilpin of State College; one son Robert Glenn Witter and his wife Beth of rural Bellefonte; one grandson, Colton Gilpin and two granddaughters, Andrea Gilpin and Megan Witter. He was preceded in death by one sister Jean Shope, and two brothers Alfred and Bob Witter.
At his request, private services will be held at the convenience of the family, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA, with the Reverned Bryan Spang, pastor of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in State College, officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park
