Obituary

Hazel L. Miller Swales, 86, of Millheim, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.

She was born July 19, 1928, in Avis, a daughter of the late George W. and Almeda Fielder Miller. On December 31, 1945; she married James V. Swales who preceded her in death on March 20, 2007.

Hazel attended Avis and Jersey Shore schools. Mrs. Swales was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Centre Hall. Earlier in life she worked in the cafeterias in the Bellefonte School District, and later was employed in food service at Penn State University from 1986 until her retirement on July 23, 1993. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and loved camping , spending time on their boat and fishing in Delaware, but her first love was enjoying time with her family.

Surviving Mrs. Swales are two daughters, Carol L. Ravenna (Donald) of New Port Richey, FL, and Victoria Bressler (Dennis) of Millheim and one son, Mike Swales (Eileen) of Warriors Mark; eight grandchildren, Hope Franklin (Tom), Anthony Ravenna (Shanna), Chad Bressler (Corinna), Troy Bressler, Christopher Swales (Katie) Jennifer Swales (Jared), Cheri McConnell, and Jaime Miller, six great grandchildren, Chase, Alexa, Ava, Westley, Austin and Giovanni. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Swales was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C., 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will follow at 11 am at the funeral home with The Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
