Helen Marie Mishock, 86, of Pleasant Gap, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
Born on November 4, 1922 in Cairnbrook, PA, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Franceska Mele.
On August 6, 1949, she married Michael P. Mishock who preceded her in death on December 9, 1978. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her 14 year old daughter, Susan Mishock, on May 23, 1971; her brother, Phillip Mele; and her sister, Frances Hollins
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn and Mylinda Mishock; one son, David Mishock and his wife Debra; beloved grandchildren, Joseph and Elizabeth Mishock; one great-grandson, Collin Michael Mishock; five sisters, Ann Chiapelli, Sophie Chizmar, Ruby McQuade, Mildred Mele, and Evelyn Jacupka; one brother, Fred Mele; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Helen faithfully served our country as a World War II Marine veteran obtaining the rank of Sergeant. After returning from military service, she then graduated with an accounting degree from Cambria Rowe Business College in Johnstown. She and husband Michael co-owned R.M. Family Homes, Inc, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and also active in affairs at Blessed Kateri Catholic Church in Spring Mills.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 11 AM - 1 PM and 7 - 9 PM at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Vigil Services followed by the Rosary will be held at 8:30 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home with the Deacon Tom Boldin officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2009, beginning at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, with the Reverend Lubomir J. Strecok officiating.
Interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park with full military honors.
