Helen Marie Poorman passed from this life on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Greenwood Village, Lewistown, PA. She was born April 8, 1927 to Russell Dale and Roxie Eunice Tressler Stover in Houserville, PA. She was married June 2, 1945 to Ralph A Poorman, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1987.
Helen graduated from State College Area High School in 1944. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed working in her flower beds, bird watching and walking in nature.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings and the following brother and sister-in-laws: Rosella Day and husband Earl, Nelli Witmer and husband John, Eugene Stover and wife Evelyn, Bella Gummo, and Elwood Stover and wife Faye. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Roy Gummo; her 3 children, daughters, Linda Plowey of Greenville, PA, Karen Baker and husband Jerry of York, PA and son, Ralph Poorman and wife Sharon of State College, PA, and honorary son, Tim Worman and his wife Frances of Sierra Madre, CA. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Jessica Patton and husband Matt of Edinburg, PA, Matthew Plowey and Emz Julin of Stockholm, Sweden, Timothy Plowey of New Castle, PA, Kade Poorman and wife, Jessica of Milroy, PA, honorary granddaughter Kelly Timney Byers and husband Andrew, stationed in Oceanside, CA and honorary grandson Timothy Worman of Sierra Madre, CA. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren: Joshua and Ethan Patton, of Edinburg, PA, Heidi and Gretchen Poorman, of Milroy, PA and Kellin and Quintin Plowey of Stockholm, Sweden and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 11:00am - 12:00pm with a funeral service, officiated by Reverend Randy Smyre, immediately following at 12:00pm, at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Interment will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
