Helen "Judy" Judith Johns, 70, of State College died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Judy was born in Williamsport on November 8, 1939, a daughter of John C. and Helen C. Trayer. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Lycoming College in 1962.
She married Harry W. Johns in 1966.
Together, Judy and Harry operated Keystone Appliances in State College for 17 years until they decided to pursue other endeavors. Judy then spent many years working in the accounting department at The Meadows in Centre Hall, PA.
Judy passionately supported her son Billy's sprint car race team and was an avid Penn State sports fan. In her spare time, she was a voracious reader and a wizard at solving crossword puzzles. She brought joy to all who knew her through her keen wit and unwavering support.
In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by her sister, Sally T. DeGan; daughters Michelle L. Jordan (Donald), of Curwensville, and Judith A. Johns, of Kent, Ohio; and son, William D. Johns (Tina), of State College. She is preceded in death by an infant son and brothers John C. and William C. Trayer of Williamsport.
Friends will be received from 9:00am - 11:00am on Wednesday, August 11 at Heintzelman's Funeral Services (1034 Benner Pike, State College). Funeral services will take place following the visitation.
