Helen Woolley, 93 of Foxdale Village, State College, PA, died Monday, April 14, 2003 at Centre Community Hospital.
She was born May 5, 1909 in Radford, VA, a daughter of the late Howard Tilden and Cora Effie Kersey Jenkins. On September 3, 1929 she married Paul O. Wolley Sr. who preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1987.
She served as a secretary in the insurance division of General Motors, and later as an executive secretary for a Botanical and Pharmaceutical company in New York City. She loved flowers. Classical music and cooking. She was known for helping other people by listening attentively to them, and keeping the things told to her in strictest confidence. She experienced many griefs, but never knew depression or melancholy.
She is shrived by a daughter Greta E. Ross of La Jolia California, 1 son Dr. Paul O. Woolley Jr. of rural Spring Mills and his fiancee' Donna L. Reich; 3 grandchildren; Paul Bryan Woolley, Alessandra Ross Backes and Andrea Ross, 3 great grandchildren, Shea and Eaven Backes, and Paul Joshua Robert Woolley, as well as several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Erik T. Woolley.
A memorial service will be held at the Auditorium of Foxdale Village 500 E. Marylyn Ave., State College, PA at 1:30 p. m. Friday, April 18, 2003, with the Rev. George Burn officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erik Tyler Woolley Memorial Scholarship Fund at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA 24450
