Helga D. Tate, 63, of rural Port Matilda, died Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital surrounded by her family.  She was born April 15, 1959 in Honolulu, Hawaii, daughter of the late John Kormanic and Helga Ruth Kubik.

She was married to the late Richard M. Tate for 26 years.  Mrs. Tate was the location manager for Long Motor Buses in State College; and was the previous owner of Tate's Concessions.  Helga was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 245 at Pine Hall.
In life Helga was a dependable leader who had an infectious fun-loving character and could get people around her motivated, laughing, and enjoying life. She enjoyed everything outdoors from working in her yard and garden to camping and fishing with
her family.

Surviving Mrs. Tate are five children, Daisy (Chuck) Chronister of Bellefonte, Chrystal Kauffman of State College, Roy M.J. Kauffman of Mill Hall, Richard M. Tate, II of Port Matilda, and Helga T. (Ryan) Confer of Philipsburg; two step children; Bronson J Tate of Pleasant Gap, and Heather Tate of Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 4 siblings; John P. (Pam) Kormanic of Huntingdon, Jason (Lisa) Kormanic of Bellefonte, Robert (Carinda) Kormanic of Bellefonte and Joyce (Anthony) Mills of Brockway; and Step mother Joan
Kormanic of Bellefonte.

There will be viewing for immediate family only, no public visitation will be held.  Graveside service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10am at Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA.
