Obituary for Henry D. Eng
Henry Day Eng, 89, of Pine Grove Mills, Pa. passed away on Monday, March 26th, 2007 at the Mt. Nittany Medical Centre.
Born on December 25th, 1917 in Boston, MA., he was the son of Philip and Fanny Eng. On July 27, 1942 he married the former Evelyn M. Wong who died November 7th, 1997. Surviving are two sons, Philip Eng, of Silverdale, WA., Stephen Eng, of Frewsburg, N.Y., and a daughter, Melanie Eng, of Pine Grove Mills, seven grandchildren and ten great grand children. Also surviving is a sister Lillian Lee of Brookline, MA. He was preceded in death by a brother Warren L. Eng of Boston,MA.
He was a graduate of the English High School of Boston, Mass. He graduated from the New England Aircraft School and the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He also attended the Rhode Island School of Design.
He was a production engineer with the U.S. Navel Torpedo Station at Newport R.I. from 1941-1946. He then worked as a research assistant for Penn State University's Applied Research Laboratory till his retirement in 1983.
Henry was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, and solving suduko puzzles.
Private funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to remember Henry by taking a walk on a sunny day, planting something in the garden, or spending some special time with children, all things he loved to do.
