Herbert A. Wilson, Jr., 74, of Julian, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.
Born May 18, 1933 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Herbert A. Wilson, Sr., and Rosa Ellen (Grimm) Wilson.
As a young boy, he had a Grit newspaper route laying the groundwork as a future salesman. He attended Uniontown High School, Uniontown, PA.
Following high school, he entered the United States Air Force in 1952. After basic training, he was stationed at Lajes Air Force Base in the Azores where he was a baker and following four years of service with a final rank of Airman 1st Class, he was honorably discharged. Following a brief employment with the Woolworth Company as a Manager Trainee, Herbert went to work for the Tastykake Baking Company of Philadelphia, PA. He worked for them in Washington, D.C, Central New Jersey and then in Central Pennsylvania where he opened up the entire region and became best known as Mr. Tastykake. He retired in 1996 after 37 years of service.
He enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. He also enjoyed his daily bible readings and devotionals. His constant companion during his later years was his beloved dog, "Babydoll."
Surviving are his twin children, daughter, Pamela Jean (Reggio) of State College and son Herbert A. Wilson, III and daughter-in-law Carol, of Westminster, Maryland; five grandchildren, Herbert A. Wilson IV, Joshua Wilson, David Reggio, Jeffrey Reggio, and Lindsey Wilson; three sisters, Marion Miller of Washington State, Laura Pierce and husband Larry of Ohio, and Beverly Hampton and husband Jerry of Maryland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Fike and two infant brothers.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Centre County Memorial Park.
