Hildreth H. Lancaster, 86, of State College, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at her home.
Born January 21, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Emma Herald.
On December 5, 1942, she married Otis Ewing Lancaster, who preceded her in death on November 17, 1992.
She was a graduate of Ward Belmont Junior College, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1938 and the University of Oklahoma in 1940. She worked as a secretary in the College of Engineering at the University of Maryland for two years.
Her hobbies were needlework and woodworking. She was a lifetime member of Delta Gamma sorority.
She is survived by her five children, Elaine Sonderegger of Orange, CT, Hayden Lancaster of Parkersburg, WV, Dale Lancaster of State College, and Patricia Lancaster and Matthew Lancaster of Bellefonte; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. One daughter, Ethel died in infancy.
She is also survived by a brother Rollin Herald of Lubbock, TX, and a sister, Helen Woodward of Beloit, WI. She was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Alexander.
She was a Humanity Gifts Registry donor and her body was given to Hershey Medical Center. Subsequent burial will be in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Village at Penn State on Sunday, November 5, 2006.
