Obituary

Howard E. Hartley, 74, of Centre Hall, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 10, 2016, at his home.

He was born October 21, 1941, in Lewistown, and son of the late George and Ann Knepp Hartley

On February 25, 1961 he married Barbara A. Decker who survives at home.

Howard graduated from the former Routhrock High School in Lewistown; and served as a fire fighter in the U. S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hartley was employed in the purchasing department of Cerro Metals in Bellefonte.

He was a member of American Legion Post 779 Old Fort, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1094 in Bellefonte; The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 143 in Lewistown; the Nittany Antique Machinery Association, and the Centre Hall Farmer's and Business Men's Association.

He enjoyed reading and traveling.

Surviving Mr. Hartley in addition to his wife is a daughter Mishell Valiulis (Frank) of League City, TX; a granddaughter Katie, a sister Edna Byers (Dale) of McVeytown, and a brother Ed Hartley (Kathleen) of Lewistown;

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Betty and two brothers Carl and Ray.

Following his explicit wishes, all services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John's Union Church Cemetery in Farmers Mills.
