James Calvin Corl, 88, of State College died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Santa Ana, CA.
He was born May 21, 1926 in Pine Grove Mills, a son of the late William Albert and Clara Elizabeth (Trostle) Corl.
On July 15, 1950 he married Patricia Joan Kimmel who preceded him in death on May 14, 2008.
James is survived by two sons, Jeffrey C. Corl, of Pine Grove Mills and Robert M. Corl of Santa Ana, CA; three brothers, William K., Sheldon and Theodore Corl all of State College; five sisters, Esther Luce of State College, Beverly Haynes of Gainesville, FL, Shirley Rader of State College, Connie Levine of Bellefonte and Barbara Spindler of Tyrone.
In addition to his wife, a sister Elizabeth Whitbred preceded him in death.
Jim graduated from State College High School and attended Penn State University. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving on the USS Mississippi. He was co-owner of the former Corl Brothers Trucking with his brother William K. Corl. He then was the owner and operator of Corl Trucking and J.C. and Sons in State College.
He was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of the Pine Grove Mills Men's Chorus, the Pine Grove Mills Marching Band (he was a snare drummer), and the Ferguson Township Lions Club. He was a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner.
Trucking and music were his life.
Friends will be received from 9-11 AM, Wednesday, March25, 2015, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Rohrbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
