Obituary

James Elwood Gibboney Sr. 83, of Boalsburg, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College.
He was born February 4, 1924, in McAleveys Fort, a son of the late Benjamin A. and Mary A. Green Gibboney.
On May 12, 1945, he married Betty Jane Keeler who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James E. Gibboney Jr. of Lyndora, PA and John A. Gibboney and his wife Donita of State College, PA, two granddaughters, Cassandra Gibboney and Brianna Madden, and six grandsons, Jeremy, Brandon, Justin, Sean and his companion Donna, Stephen and his wife Tirzah, and Daniel Gibboney and his companion Wendy.
Mr. Gibboney attended Stone Valley High School. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Boalsburg and the Boalsburg Senior Citizens Club.
He especially enjoyed camping at Hidden Valley Campground at Forrest Hill, having camped there since 1971. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, loved being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, reading his bible, and spending time with his dog, Prince.
He retired February 27, 1987, as manager of the hardware department at O. W. Houts in State College, after thirty-nine years of service. He had also worked for Cerro Metals, formerly Titan Metals of Bellefonte for five years.
Friends will be received from 2 to 3 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2007 and from 10 to 11 AM, Monday, August 13, 2007 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services P.C., 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, August 13, 2007 at the funeral home with Reverend Les Conklin, Chaplain at the Hidden Valley Campground, officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
