James Ernest Leslie ("Jim"), 84, formerly of State College and most recently of the Oaks at Pleasant Gap, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018. Jim was born in Reading, PA on December 12, 1933. He graduated from Reading High School and attended Penn State and Lafayette College. He served in the U.S. Army, was honorably discharged in 1955, and continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1961. In addition to his military service, Jim worked as a Data Consultant for Bell Telephone of PA for 32 years and retired in 1989.

Jim was married to Janet Emma Leslie, n é e Levan, on April 19,1958. They were married sixty years, and their marriage was an enduring example of love to all who knew them.

Jim enjoyed golf, Penn State sports and most of all, his grandchildren. He was also actively involved in Grace Lutheran Church and Burning Tee Golf League.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Jan, son James E. Leslie Jr. and wife Gretchen, son Eric R. Leslie and wife Kathleen, three grandchildren, Katy, Cooper and Devon Leslie, and other family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, John O. Leslie, Sr., his mother, Edith D. Ericsson, and three siblings, Richard Leslie, Lois Mannis, and John O. Leslie, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to thank the fantastic staff of the Oaks, Pleasant Gap, and Home Nursing Agency, UPMC, who made his final years and especially his days so comfortable.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St. State College, PA with Pastor Scott Schul officiating. Inurnment will take place at the church columbarium following the service.
