Obituary

James Albert Mowery, 76, of Pleasant Gap, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born on May 14, 1930 in Woodland to the late Albert and Mary Gingery Mowery.
On November 4, 1952 he married Geraldine "Jerry" Lansberry, formerly of Woodland, who survives at home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Dennis Mowery and his wife Lori of Huntingdon, Jeffrey Mowery of Pompano Beach, FL; a daughter, Pamela Shawver and her husband Lloyd of Spring Mills; six grandchildren, Bronson Tate, Shawn Mowery, Matthew and Jordan Kachik, Melissa and Madeline Mowery; and two brothers, Edwin Mowery and his wife Robin, and Patrick Mowery and his wife Carol.
He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1950.
He served in the Korean War with the US Army from 1950 to 1952.
He was employed by Rockview State Correctional Institution from 1963 until his retirement in 1992.
He was an active member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church.
Most important to him was his family and especially his wife of 54 years. He was a kind and gentle person and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Thursday and from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas M. Osif officiating. Burial will follow at the Centre County Memorial Park.
