James Nixon, 87, of State College, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College.
He was born on March 8, 1922, a son of the late James and Jeanette (Stecher) Nixon. On September 7, 1946, he married Constance Callahan, who preceded him death on October 22, 1999.
Jim honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also a Free and Accepted Mason and a graduate of Penn State University.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Repotski of Winston-Salem, NC, and Ruth Anne Beck of Lititz; two sons, James T. Nixon of Marietta, GA., and Richard Nixon of State College; one brother, Robert Nixon; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College.
The funeral will be held at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 208 W. Foster Avenue, State College with Reverend Richard Virgil officiating.
Burial will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre.
