Obituary

James N. Peters, 80, of State College, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Fairways, Brookline Village, in State College.
He was born on November 5, 1925 in Lewistown, to the late George S. and Ada E. Campbell Peters.
He married Marion A. Whitcomb formerly of Mechanicsburg, on August 20, 1955, who survives at home.
He was a graduate of Derry Township School in Mifflin County. He received a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg State Teachers' College and a master's degree from Penn State.
He was a school teacher/administrator in the following school districts from 1950-1991: Mechanicsburg, Lewistown, United Joint of Indiana County, Towanda, and State College. He was a member of NEA/PSEA. He was an active member of the University Baptist and Brethren Church for the past 38 years where he sang in the choir, served on several boards and committees, taught and worked with the youth, and served on the Ministry Team.
His hobbies included gardening, flowers, nature walks, singing and listening to music, and in recent years traveling, and photographing churches. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's concerts and events.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Dean Peters of Brookings, SD: a daughter, Cheryl Daniels and her husband Ed of State College; three brothers, George of Palmyra, Robert of Huntingdon, and Charles of Cleveland, OH; six sisters, Mae Nichols, Susan Jane Robinette, Sara Grace Spigelmyer and Linda Ciccolini all of the Lewistown area, Margaret Barnett of Fort Myers, FL, and Frances Stoianoff of Naples, FL; five grandchildren, Ashley Abrahamson and Alexandria Peters of Brookings, SD, Tyson, Cory and Shannon Daniels of State College.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Lucille Stull and a grandson Connor Benjamin Daniels.
The viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17,2006 at the University Baptist and Brethren Church, 411 S. Burrowes St., State College, PA 16801. The funeral will follow with Pastor Bonnie Kline Smeltzer officiating. Internment will be at the Centre County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 501 Howard Ave, Altoona, PA 16601. or to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 602, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
