Jane M. Gackenbach October 19, 1911 - November 5, 2007 Jane Mahey Gackenbach, 96, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at the Fairways at Brookline. Born Oct. 19, 1911, in Ranielle, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Frederick H. and Ermina Moore Mahey. On Nov. 21, 1975, she married Ernest K. Gackenbach, a retired State College Area High School Teacher, who survives her at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Barbara Gifford of State College, Harry Gackenbach of Euless, Tx., and David Gackenbach of Scottsdale, Ariz. Dear to her heart were seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and seven cousins with whom she was close all her life. Jane attended Clarion University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science. She received her Master of Education Degree at The Pennsylvania State University. She retired in 1974 as the Librarian for State College Area High School. Jane was a member of State College Presbyterian Church, Pi Gamma Mu Sorority, State College Senior Citizens Club, Pennsylvania Association of School Employees, State College Woman's Club and Quarter Century Club. Arrangements were made under the direction of Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service and interment was held in Clarion.
