Janice (Crosby) Lachman, 86, of Bellefonte died Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Fairways of Brookline.
She was born July 27, 1926 in Pottstown, PA, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Alice (Hoch) Crosby.
On March 25, 1950, in Tyrone she married Harold W. "Hal" Lachman who preceded her in death on September 9, 1994.
Janice was a registered nurse at the Bellefonte Hospital and did private duty nursing care for the elderly. She was an ombudsman for Salem Hill Haven and various State College area nursing facilities.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her flower beds and gardening and going to Bible Conferences.
She is survived by two daughters, Aileen M Lachman of Pikesville, MD., and Denise L. (Gary) Rupert of Rebersburg; on son, James D. (Brenda) Lachman of Palmyra, PA; two brothers, Alan Crosby of Mill Hall and Byron (Rana) Crosby of Boyertown, PA and eight grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah and Samuel Blum, Nathanial, Michael and Kaitlin Lachman and Benjamin and Krista Rupert.
In addition to parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister Muriel Grazier and a brother Farell Crosby.
Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Monday, October 22, 2012 and 1-2 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, where services will be held at 2 PM, with her brothers Alan and Byron officiating.
Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
