Jean Louise Carlson of Centre Hall, PA formerly of Hendersonville, NC and Lakewood, NY died Friday, December 19, 2014. She was born in Jamestown, NY on February 5, 1918 to Edwin and Wanda Jacobson. She was educated in the Jamestown schools and was a graduate of the College of Wooster and Syracuse University. A lifelong learner, Jean taught at Southwestern Central School where she was head of the English Department. She belonged to AAUW, Fortnightly, YWCA, International Relations and The Crche and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church Altar Guild and the Lakewood Memorial Library Board. She enjoyed gardening, bridge, cooking, travel and spending time with family and friends.
Jean is survived by her five daughters, Judith Wilson and Polly Halfkenny, both of Brooklyn, NYS; Susan Minekime (Richard) of Eden, NYS; Kathleen Grimes (Brian) of East Greenwich, RI and Mary Ellen Bogdan of Centre Hall, PA; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul J. O'Brian and her second husband, Robert B. Carlson.

A memorial service honoring the life of Jean Louise Carlson will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the chapel at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown, NY. The Reverend Richard Wall of State College, PA will officiate. Family, friends and former students are invited to attend.
