Jeanne M. LeBlanc, 85, of State College, died Wednesday, December 21,2005 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
She was born on May 20,1920 in Versailles, France to the late Andre and Marie Daudin Huchon.
On August 18,1951 she married Alfred J. LeBlanc who survives at home.
She was a member of the French Resistance during WWII. She had completed her graduate work at Sorbonne in Paris. She then received a scholarship to Columbia University in 1946 to 1947. From 1947 to 1948 she taught at Skidmore College. From 1948 to 1949 she was a tutor and companion to Rita Hayworth. She then taught at Middlebury College from 1949 to 1951. She was an assistant professor in the French Dept. at the Penn State University from 1963 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She loved flowers, gardening, poetry, creating crossword puzzles in French and gourmet cooking.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Daniel LeBlanc of State College. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne-Marie LeBlanc on November 24,2003 and also by a brother, Jean Huchon.
Their will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 28,2005 at the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801 with the Monsignor David A. Lockard officiating.
