Jeffrey Andrew
Farson
Aug 8, 1966 — Jul 22, 2026
311 Fry Drive, State College, PA 16801
We are heartbroken to share that our dear Jeffrey Andrew Farson passed away at the age of 59 after a brief illness.
Jeffy was loved deeply by family and friends and by those who cared for him as a special needs individual. At 9 years of age, his parents, Robert Henry Farson and Joan Hollister Farson, now deceased, chose to offer him more professional care at The Woodruff House for special needs children. After spending some years there, Bob Hampton and his now late wife, Pauline, who were house parents there, provided a loving, caring home for 4 boys, including Jeffrey. Jeffrey was relocated to Strawberry Fields, another group home that provided specialized care for individuals with disabilities. He remained there for the duration of his life, developing strong friendships and continued to be active in the community.
Jeffrey attended Skills for over 48 years and participated in activities in the community, including trading out library books weekly at various libraries, raking leaves in the fall at parks, and attending Bible study groups and Wednesday night dinners at Grace Lutheran Church in State College. He also enjoyed swimming and ice skating at the Penn State rink during his younger years.
Some of the things Jeffrey enjoyed were painting, playing with trucks, visiting with family and friends, and enjoying a big bowl of chocolate ice cream. Although Jeffrey was nonverbal, he knew how to make his needs and wants known in a gentle way. He was always happy and everybody loved spending time with him. His smile would light up a room. Heaven is a little bit brighter since Jeffrey has arrived there.
He is survived by his sister Robin Hammer (Mark), brother Matt Farson, sister Kristin Farson, and brother Greg Farson. Jeffrey also had 7 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and nephews, with the newest great-nephew born just one month ago.
A memorial service honoring Jeffrey will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S Garner St., State College, PA 16801, on August 22nd, 2026, at 11:00 am with 10:00 am greetings. Pastor Carolyn K Hetrick will be officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his parents in Cape Cod, MA, at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Strawberry Fields, 3054 Enterprise Dr., State College, PA 16801.
