Jeffrey D. Stout, 68, of Boalsburg died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at home with his wife, other family members and his beloved dog, Ebby, by his side.

He was born September 28, 1946, at Fountain Hill, PA, a son of the late Wilmer N. and Henrietta Kitchin Stout.

On March 29, 1969, he married Donna S. Weaver Stout who survives at home.

Jeff was a 1964 graduate of Lewis Dieruff High School in Allentown, and earned a B.S. in Forestry from Penn State in 1969. He was active in the Student Christian Involvement Program (SCIP) at Faith United Church of Christ, State College, and the Army ROTC program at Penn State where he was commissioned into the US Army upon graduation.

He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War earning the rank of Captain. For his service he earned a Bronze Star, a National Service Defense Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device.

After serving in the military, Jeff worked as supervisor at several Pennsylvania saw mills and as grounds foreman at Penn State (Physical Plant). He then worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, retiring as Supervisor of Landfill and Hazardous Waste Inspections after twenty-five years.

He cared for and devoted countless hours to the Egg Hill Church and Cemetery for many years. Early in life he achieved Eagle Scout status. As an adult he served as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts in Boalsburg, and worked part-time as a kennel assistant at Mount Nittany Veterinary Hospital.

He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ, State College, having served on the church board for many years. He was a member of the American Legion in State College, the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society, Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Patron for many years, the State College Free and Accepted Masons, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon

Among the things he enjoyed most were trains and model trains, walking his dog, gardening, and spending time outdoors. He was also an avid and accomplished biker.

In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by a brother Jeryl Stout (Lynn Alice) of Allentown, sisters-in-law Wanda Reeder (Charles) of Westfield, WI, and Jennifer Yorks (Chuck) of Bellefonte, and mother-in-law Virginia (Peggy) Weaver of Lewisburg. He is also survived by nieces Margaret Neitz (Devin), Lori Harrison, Nicole Roberson (Brian) and nephews Christopher Stout, Donald Reeder, Matthew Tate (Shari), and Scott Reeder; and by several great nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 1795 W. College Ave., State College, PA. An Order of the Eastern Star service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, followed by a Masonic service, then followed immediately by the memorial service with the Reverend Charles Fitzgerald officiating. Following the service, Veteran's honors will be presented. Friends will be received in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the Veteran's honors until about 5:00 p.m.
