Jennie Mae Eminhizer Johnson, 89, of Lemont, died Friday, October 10, 2008, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She was born February 24, 1919 in Tusseyville, a daughter of the late Paul and Edna Mae Ishler Eminhizer.
On December 7, 1937 she married Clarence D. Johnson who preceded her in death July 24, 1997.
She attended Tusseyville schools. Early in life she attended Pine Hall Lutheran Church and later attended Houserville United Methodist Church. She was accomplished at quilting and embroidering, having won awards at Grange Fair in both categories. She enjoyed singing hymns, traveling to see the fall foliage, and loved roses. She was fascinated by covered bridges. Most importantly she was a loving caring person, with a deep compassion for the well being of others.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by three daughters, Beverly E. McMurtrie of Bellefonte, Sandra Rote (James) of Julian and Barbara A. Lyons (Harold) of Bellefonte; five sons Charles M. Johnson (Linda Gummo) of Julian, Robert L. Johnson (Gloria) of Centre Hall, Clarence D. Johnson Jr. (Frances) of Boalsburg, Lemoyne R. Johnson (Edie) of Port Matilda and Stephen C. Johnson (Linda) of State College; 25 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a daughter in law Elissa Johnson, and one sister Martha Miller of Madisonburg.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Dale A. Johnson; two grandchildren, Kevin L. McMurtrie and Diana Johnson; a step grandson James Rote Jr.; one son in law Ralph McMurtrie; three sisters, Mary Alice Eminhizer, Hilda Phillippi and Helen Miller; and one brother William Eminhizer.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday, October 13, 2008, with the Reverend Renee Ford officiating. Entombment will be in the Garden Mausoleum at Centre County Memorial Park, State College
