After a courageous fight with breast cancer, Jennifer Lynn (Kern) Bickel, 39, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at her residence.
Born on June 4, 1972 in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of Randall E. Jr. and Linda (Dean) Kern of Bellefonte.
On October 25, 1997 in Pleasant Gap, she was married to Toby J. Bickel, who survives at home.
Jennifer received her Associates in Nursing from the Penn State University, Mount Alto Campus.
Jennifer was a Registered Nurse and was employed as the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College. She was an excellent, caring, and thoughtful nurse to all the patients she took care of.
Jennifer attended Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her children.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by two children, Trevor and Ava, both at home; one sister, Michele Mease (Frank Jr) of North Carolina; and her maternal grandmother, Thelma Dean of Centre Hall.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Irvin Dean and both of her paternal grandparents, Randall E. Kern Sr. and Ruth June Small.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 AM at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, with the Reverend Thomas Osif officiating. Interment will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
