John Gustav Anderson, 76, of State College, peasefully went to be with his lord on September 28, 2006.
He was born in Scandia, PA on February 7, 1930 to the late Luther and Esther Nelson Anderson.
On September 18, 1952 he married Doris Danielson who survives at home.
He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1953.
In 1990 he retired from AT & T after 36 years as a technician.
A member of the Oakwood Presbyterian Church, he served his church in many ways and provided outstanding service as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Centre Communities Chapter of the American Red Cross.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Daniel J. Anderson of State College; two daughters, Rebecca Jones of Ft. Collins, CO, and Lois Wilkinson of Troy, MI; eight grandchildren; a brother, Sheldon Anderson of Northbrook, IL; and a sister Ruth Bland of Flagstaff, AZ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the Oakwood Presbyterian Church, 1865 Waddle Rd., State College, PA 16803 with the Rev. Russell St. John officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakwood Presbyterian Church, 1865 Waddle Rd., State College, PA 16803 or to the Centre Communities Chapter of the American Red Cross, 121 1/2 E. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801.
