John F. Brewer, 98, of State College, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield. Born September 2, 1927, in South Fork, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Mary (Brosch) Brewer. He was predeceased in 2018 by his wife of 65 years Lois (Stombaugh) Brewer.

Mr. Brewer was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served during WWII.

John earned a Bachelor's Degree from Nyack College and then served as a pastor in the Alliance Denomination in Detroit, Michigan and New Castle, Indiana. He changed his career focus to education and began taking courses at Ball State University. While earning his Bachelor's Degree in Education, John taught elementary school in Indiana for five years. He relocated to State College, PA and earned a Master's Degree from Penn State. During that time he taught in State College Area School District and continued to teach there until he retired. He liked hunting, fishing, and any outdoor activity that allowed him to enjoy God's beautiful creations, as well as studying creation scripture.

Surviving are his children, Constance (Terry) Smith of Clearfield, Joel Brewer of Charlotte, NC, and Scott Brewer of Bellefonte; daughter-in-law, Deb Brewer of State College; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by a son, Mark Brewer; brothers, Gilbert, Emerson, Marlin, Thomas, Titus (infant) and sisters, Freda Lees and Charlotte Brewer.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, 12:00 pm at Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Viewing will be from 11am until the time of service.

Burial will be private at South Fork Cemetery.
