John Henry Frank, 82, of Dale Summit, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Centre Crest Nursing Center in Bellefonte.
He was born on September 8, 1926 in Pine Grove Mills, a son of the late Jacob Basil and Bertha (Ellenberger) Frank.
On December 16, 1950, he was married to the former Jane L. Hoffner, who survives at home.
John attended Pine Grove Mills School.
In 1989, he retired from Penn State University, working 35 years in the Athletic Department.
He was an avid Penn State supporter, and loved fishing, golfing, sports, and travelling.
John served our country in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1943 until 1945. He was deployed to the Philippines, where he drove supply trucks from Leyte to Manilla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary Frank; one grandson, Jed Frank; one daughter-in-law, Celeste Frank; two sisters, Ellen Fye and Mary Waltz; one brother, Ed Frank; sister-in-law, Julia Frank; a brother and sister-in-law, Orde and Velma Hoffner; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public viewing and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, is in charge of the arrangements.
