Obituary

John J. Horner, 84, of Pine Grove Mills, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.
Born on April 17, 1927, in Colyer, he was a son of the late John William and Marian(Burchfield) Horner.
On April 19, 1952 at the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church, he was married to Bettyann (Lauck) Horner, who survives at home.
He was self employed and retired as a laborer and extensively worked on hard wood flooring projects.
Mr. Horner honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
John was a member and former deacon at the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 245 in State College and the VFW Post 5825 in Pine Grove Mills.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard working, gardening, vacationing with his family in Madeira Beach, FL, and enjoyed visiting family and friends, especially at the Grange Fair and at family reunions.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Carol Ann Levine (James) of Florence, SC; one son, Michael J. Horner of Pine Grove Mills; one sister, Cecille Burkholder of Unionville; one brother, Frank Horner of State College; and one granddaughter, Erica Ann Levine of Charleston, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church, West Pine Grove Road, Pine Grove Mills, beginning at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Carl D. Campbell officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
