John N. Miller, 88, of Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, formerly of Petersburg, and Centre Hall, died Sunday, July 24, 2005 at his residence.
He was born February 16, 1917 in Huntingdon County, the son of the late Daniel and Blanche Neff Miller.
On November 27, 1943, at the Christ Reformed Church in Alexandria, he married Eleanor M. Mellott who preceded him in death on October 6, 1996.
Mr. Miller graduated from Petersburg Vocational High School. He farmed and did commercial meat processing in Huntingdon County for many years, having owned and operated Miller Brother's Sausage. In addition John drove school bus for Juniata Valley School District for many years.
John was a member of Christ Reformed Church in Alexandria and also attended Petersburg United Methodist Church, and Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall.
He enjoyed gardening, especially raising sweet corn, deer hunting, shooting pool, playing Croquet and Dominos, and earlier in life was an avid bicycle rider.
Mr. Miller is survived by a daughter, Dr. Lida Oxnard of Lexington, KY; two sons, Daniel M. Miller of Rural Huntingdon and John N. Miller Jr. of New Columbia; 9 Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a special friend Geraldine Brooks of Centre Hall.
At his request, private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, P. C., 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA, with the Rev. Paul N. Marsteller, Minister Emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Winchester, VA officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Petersburg.
